Custom orthotics in Adelaide
Sometimes our bodies need extra support, protection or control so we can move more comfortably. NovitaTech’s orthotists assess, prescribe, design and fit custom orthoses for babies, children and adults, and we make them in our own workshop at Croydon Park using 3D scanning, 3D printing and CNC carving.
Our orthotists are AOPA-registered clinicians with full prescribing authority, so the same team that assesses you also oversees how your orthosis is made and looks after it for the long term.

What is an orthosis?
An orthosis (often called an orthotic or brace) is a custom device worn on the body to support, align or protect a joint, and to help you stand, walk and move more easily. Every NovitaTech orthosis is made to measure for the person wearing it.
What we make
- Custom foot orthoses, CNC-carved from EVA or 3D printed in nylon
- UCBL inserts for foot control inside the shoe
- Supramalleolar orthoses (SMAFOs), including flexible 3D printed TPU designs
- Ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs): solid, hinged, carbon fibre and resting (night) AFOs
- Knee-ankle-foot orthoses (KAFOs) and resting knee splints
- Soft 3D printed inners and custom interfaces to make braces more comfortable
- Help with footwear that works with your orthoses
Many of our devices can be made in colours and patterns your child will love to wear.
What happens at your appointment
- Assessment. Your orthotist talks with you about your goals, looks at how you stand and walk, and works with your physio, therapist or doctor where needed.
- 3D scan. We take a quick, non-invasive 3D scan (or a cast where that suits better).
- Design and make. Your orthosis is designed in CAD software and made in our Croydon Park workshop.
- Fitting. We fit your orthosis, check it is comfortable and show you how to put it on.
- Follow-up. We review the fit as you or your child grows and adjust or replace devices when needed.
Where we see you
Our main clinic and workshop is at 169 Regency Road, Croydon Park. Our orthotists also run regional clinics across South Australia and into Broken Hill, travelling with our mobile orthotic van, which carries a 3D scanner and the tools for on-the-spot adjustments, so you don’t have to travel to Adelaide.

Our orthotists see babies, children and adults, including people with:
- cerebral palsy and other neurological conditions
- stroke, multiple sclerosis and acquired brain injury
- foot drop and other walking difficulties
- flat feet, high arches and foot or ankle pain
- toe walking in children
- arthritis in the feet and ankles
- diabetes-related foot problems
NovitaTech orthotics can be funded through the NDIS, private health insurance, DVA and other schemes, or paid privately.

Our technology
NovitaTech’s in-house workshop combines traditional orthotic craft with digital manufacturing. That means precise fit, faster turnaround and a wider range of materials than most orthotic providers can offer.
CNC-carved EVA foot orthoses
Computer-controlled carving of ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) foam to the exact shape of your scan, for consistent, durable foot orthoses.
Printed Foot Orthoses
Nylon orthoses offering complex customisation options and visual appeal that is difficult to achieve with other fabrication techniques.
SLS TPU Inners, UCBLs and SMAFOs
Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) technology used to produce flexible Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) inner devices, Supramalleolar Ankle-Foot Orthosis (SMAFO) and UCBLs (custom moulded show inserts) that provide an excellent balance of durability, comfort and foot control.
FDM Soft Inners and SMAFOs
Flexible 3D-printing technology used to create soft interfaces and orthoses for clients requiring a more compliant and comfortable fit. Excellent affordable, customised addition to pre-fab devices.
Printed Thermoplastic Moulds
3D-printed positive moulds that enable digital workflows with the flexibility of overnight printing for a lower price than other mould options. In addition, printed moulds reduce waste.
Thermoplastic and carbon fibre devices
Vacuum-formed thermoplastics create durable, adjustable orthoses using well-established techniques. Laminated carbon fibre is used for strong, lightweight, highly customised AFOs and foot orthoses.
